“Take some of the firstfruits of all that you produce from the soil of the land the Lord your God is giving you and put them in a basket. Then go to the place the Lord your God will choose as a dwelling for his Name” (Deuteronomy 26:2)

As the Jewish people observe Shavuot, they remember God’s gift of His Word. But it is also the biblically mandated firstfruits festival we find in Deuteronomy. That is what these Jewish schoolchildren in 1935 in this week’s historical photograph from the Holy Land. Shabbat shalom, friends.
