Israel is sending additional troops along its southern border with Gaza after terrorists fired scores of rockets at Israel this week. Egyptian negotiators are still working to come up with a permanent ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.

  • The current tension between Israel and Hamas flared after a rocket fired from Gaza hit and destroyed an Israeli home in central Israel. None of the seven family members were injured.
  • Also in response to the rocket attacks, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched numerous airstrikes against key Hamas targets, including the office of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
  • This week, U.S. President Trump recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
  • Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) this week, thanking the group for its continued support of Israel.

This week’s Israel in the News Perspective features the Fellowship’s President Yael Eckstein on living on the edge of war.
