Europe Agrees with Israel: Iran Must Leave Syria

Following a three-day diplomatic trip to Europe, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reached a “general agreement” with the leaders of Germany, France, and Britain regarding the removal of Iranian forces from Syria. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Theresa May agreed that Iranian troops must be removed from the war-torn country.

  • Despite that diplomatic win, Prime Minister Netanyahu was unable to convince the three European leaders to join the U.S. in dumping the Iran nuclear deal. Both France’s Macron and Germany’s Merkel reiterated their support for the agreement.
  • The Argentinian National soccer team canceled their World Cup warm-up match with Israel because of numerous threats against players and their families. Hamas officials praised the cancelation of the match.
  • The fragile ceasefire on the Israel-Gaza border showed signs of fraying this week as Israel launched a series of airstrikes against Hamas sites after terrorists resumed attacking Israel. Kites, rigged with incendiary devices, launched across the Israeli security fence, caused massive property damage this week.
  • The Fellowship-sponsored Eshkol Trauma Center, built in 2015, provided citizens living in southern Israel with a safe and bombproof treatment center, and was instrumental in caring for people during last week’s rocket barrages from Gaza.

This week’s Israel in the News Perspective features The Fellowship‘s Ami Farkas on the fiery fallout of Hamas’ latest terror tactic.
