Salute for Israeli Rescuers at Surfside

Our hearts broke after seeing the destruction and tragedy of the Surfside apartment collapse in Florida. Israel’s heart broke, too, and a contingent from the IDF helped conduct search and rescue operations at Surfside. Now, Fox News reports the Israelis received a “water salute” before they returned to the Holy Land:

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue bid farewell to the Israel Defense Forces delegation Sunday evening as they began their journey home following their assistance with search, rescue and recovery efforts at the Champlain Towers building collapse in Surfside, Florida. 

“We wish them a safe flight back home!,” the agency tweeted along with footage of a water salute held at Miami International Airport.

The final send-off comes after the unit was cheered on by local and federal task force teams and the family members of Surfside victims, given the Key to the County and were made honorary commanders of MDFR on Saturday…

May God continue to comfort the families and loved ones of the many who lost their lives in this horrific tragedy. And may He continue to protect the brave men and women of the IDF, who not only serve the Holy Land, but their neighbors around the world, as well.
