“Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)

In this Bible verse, Ezra—who Nehemiah tells us is “the priest and teacher of the law” (v.9)—leads God’s people during the celebration of Rosh Hashanah. And in this photo taken in 1944 during the middle of WWII, Chaplain Abraham Dubin leads Jewish soldiers stationed in India in a Rosh Hashanah service, all of them finding strength in the Lord. We wish our Jewish friends Shanah Tovah, and to all, Shabbat shalom.
