Photo Friday: The Trees of the Forest Sing for Joy

Israeli children plant trees on Tu B'Shvat, 1952

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
    let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
    let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
Let all creation rejoice before the LORD…
Psalm 96:11-13

This Sunday evening at sundown, the Jewish people begin the celebration of Tu B’Shvat, the New Year of the Trees. In this photo from 1952, a group of young Israelis plants trees on this holy day — truly bringing new life to God’s Creation in the fields and forests of the Holy Land of Israel. Shabbat shalom, friends.
