Children take care of every living creature in northern Israel, 1954

“Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and every living creature that moves on the ground… everything that has the breath of life in it…” (Genesis 1:28,30)

This photo, taken at a kibbutz called Kfar HaNassi (Hebrew for “President’s Village”) north of the Sea of Galilee, shows two Israeli children and their cat in 1954. These two children surely took God’s Word in Genesis to heart, as the first generation growing up in the newly independent state of Israel, making the Holy Land a home for all of God’s Creation. Shabbat shalom, friends.
