Crossing the River Jordan (c. 1915-1920)

“But you will cross the Jordan and settle in the land the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and he will give you rest from all your enemies around you so that you will live in safety. The to the place the LORD you God will choose as a dwelling for his Name…” (Deuteronomy 12:10-11)

In this photograph taken during the earliest days of the British-mandate era in the Holy Land, sometime before 1920, riders on horseback carry out the same journey – and biblical command – that the Israelites did in Bible times, crossing the River Jordan into the Holy Land. Shabbat shalom, friends.
