Photo Friday: Those the Lord Has Rescued Will Return

After the Holocaust Jewish refugees arrive in Haifa

“…and those the LORD has rescued will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;
everlasting joy will crown their heads.
Gladness and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.” (Isaiah 35:10)

Next week, the world will observe International Holocaust Remembrance Day, remembering the six million Jewish lives taken during the Holocaust, and collectively saying “Never forget. Never again.”

But while we mourn, we also remember those who survived this, the darkest chapter in the history of God’s people, much like these two Jewish women entering Zion on a post-war refugee ship docking in Haifa. How their sorrow and sighing must have fled as they entered the Holy Land God had promised them. Shabbat shalom, friends.
