“You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love” (Jonah 4:2)

This week, the High Holy Days culminated with the observation of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar. Part of the traditional service includes the reading of the entire Book of Jonah, a biblical book focused on the need to repent and ask God’s forgiveness.

In this historic photo taken in 1973 during the Yom Kippur War, which began with Israel’s enemies attacking on the holiest day of the year, Prime Minister Gold Meir puts abounding love into practice as she visits a wounded IDF soldier at Tel HaShomer Hospital (now the Fellowship-supported Sheba Medical Center). Shabbat shalom, friends.
