After violent Palestinian unrest this week, followed by terrorist rockets launched into Israel from Gaza, terror took another form as Shabbat arrived in the Holy City. The Jerusalem Post reports that at least seven people have died and many more were injured in a terrorist shooting attack at a Jerusalem synagogue:

At least seven people were killed and another three injured in a terror attack at a synagogue in the Neve Yaakov neighborhood of Jerusalem on Friday evening…

After entering and attacking the people in the synagogue, the shooter reportedly started chasing after people who were trying to escape.

He then attempted to flee the scene by car and fired in the direction of Israel Police officers. The officers fired back and killed him…

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was reported to be receiving updates from the scene and is set to hold a situational assessment later this evening. Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai arrived at the scene of the incident shortly after the shooting occurred.

Doron Turgeman, police chief of Jerusalem district said in response to the attack: “This is one of the hardest terror attacks we’ve seen in recent years…”

Please pray for the recovery of all those left injured, for the loved ones of those taken in this attack, and for God’s mighty hand of protection over all of His children.
