Pastor Influenced by Trip to Israel

A trip to Israel – the Holy Land – leaves one in awe of the biblical and historical places there are to visit, but is often spiritually awesome, as well. The Jackson Sun’s Craig Thomas writes about the inspiration one pastor found on a recent Fellowship-hosted trip to Israel:

Pastor William Watson used to think about Bible stories the way a lot of Christians do.

He was taught them growing up, and he read them as he got older. Pictures and descriptions helped him imagine what the places looked like.

Those sites are vastly different now, of course, but today Watson has a clearer sense of place when he reads his Bible or preaches a sermon at Historic First Baptist Church in Jackson…

On May 23, Watson met about two dozen other pastors and lay leaders at John F. Kennedy Airport for the six-day trip to Israel, which was set up by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.

“The tour guide shared with us that you’re coming into a place, the Holy Land, that Moses only got to see and now you get to touch,” Watson said.
