Faces of The Fellowship: Simcha and Maayan

Eighty-five-year-old Simcha often spent Shabbat (Sabbath) and Jewish holidays by herself . . . until she met Maayan, a Fellowship volunteer for our With Dignity and Fellowship program.

Simcha first learned about The Fellowship‘s programs when she started visiting the local Fellowship-sponsored elderly club. There, she met many friends and started feeling less alone.

Our staff at the elderly club realized that Simcha could use some home visits, vital food, and medicine provided by our With Dignity and Fellowship program, and that’s when 28-year-old Maayan made her first visit to Simcha’s home. Since then, the two have grown so close they treat each other like grandmother and granddaughter. Not only does Maayan visit once a week, she also frequently calls Simcha on the phone.

The resulting relationship has been a beautiful blessing to both sides. This is the kind of loving care made possible everyday by our Fellowship friends around the world.
