Project Spotlight: Elderly Clubs

Dov Hoz Elderly Club

The Fellowship’s 104 elderly clubs throughout Israel benefit elderly and Holocaust survivors by hosting enrichment activities. As soon as the elderly enter a Fellowship-supported club, they receive a warm breakfast, which is important for seniors who don’t have the means or the ability to cook meals for themselves, and cannot afford outside help.

The rest of the day is filled with activities, including Bible and holiday classes, exercise and art workshops, and a hot lunch. Spending time socializing with friends and volunteers helps combat loneliness. Just ask 76-year-old Flora:

“My friend literally had to drag me to the club. Since then I’ve fallen in love with it. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t live without it.

“The activity at the club gives me joy. My house has been empty since my husband passed away. Coming to the club gives me strength. Thank you!”
