Faces of The Fellowship: Valerii and Liliia

This conflict has had a direct impact on our lives,” says new olim (immigrant), Valerii, who with help from The Fellowship just made aliyah (immigrated to Israel) from war-torn Ukraine with his wife, Liliia.

“We lived along the combat line, and shelling fell over our house, destroying our windows and breaking the roof. We lived in constant fear for our lives and our future,” Valerii says.

Because of the financial crisis in Ukraine, the family struggled. “Living in a state of permanent need is something we got used to over the last few years,” says Valerii. In Israel, they hope to find more secure job opportunities.

They are leaving behind their two adult children and their grandchildren, but they hope their family will join them in the Holy Land soon.

As for their aliyah with The Fellowship, they feel confident they made the right choice. For the first six months in Israel, they know they can rely on The Fellowship for the resources and financial support necessary to begin a new and successful life there.
