Help the Unseen

We are depending on your love through our Winter Warmth outreach today—for with each passing day, the former Soviet Union (FSU) draws another long, bitter winter for elderly and impoverished Jews.

Olga lives in abject poverty and loneliness in a small village in Ukraine, completely hidden from the outside world. She is one of “the least of these” in the world’s eyes.

Yet, Olga is not hidden from the eyes of our Fellowship friends, whose compassion for suffering Jews has been proven time and again.

Your help is urgently needed because the months ahead are life-threatening for people like Olga who have little or no protection against an icy Siberian winter. She is a precious Holocaust survivor who was in terrible condition when we first met her.

Olga greeted us, shivering beneath a worn housecoat in the hovel that is all she has for a home.

Why am I alive?” this dear woman kept asking us in a broken voice. “I’m freezing and I’m hungry.”

Now Olga faces another freezing and uncertain winter, unable to afford heating and warm clothing on top of the food and medicine she needs to survive.

God asks us to do what we can, when we can, with what we have, to alleviate the suffering of “the least of these.”

You can heed the biblical mandate “not to turn away from your own flesh and blood” (Isaiah 58:7) and provide a needy elderly Jew, like Olga, with food, heating fuel, warm clothes, and blankets for the winter.

Your gift for this year’s Winter Warmth outreach will truly save a life and deliver great warmth, comfort, and hope to an elderly soul in dire need.
