Avigail lives in a small apartment in Jerusalem, where her children – including her six-year-old son, Ari – sleep on a mattress on the floor. Avigail and her husband work hard, but they still barely make ends meet. They keep to the strictest budget – buying the simplest foods, rarely using electricity, and shopping for clothes at secondhand stores.
When Ari's glasses recently broke, Avigail was unable to buy him new ones. "For two weeks he went to school and was unable to read, and he cried to me each night that he couldn't see and felt dizzy all day," she says. "I prayed for help from God, and He sent me The Fellowship. Thanks to you, little Ari is now able to see with his new glasses."
The Fellowship also brings the family food boxes for the Jewish holidays. "It was not very joyous on the holidays when my children didn't have food," Avigail explains, "and that was extremely difficult for me."
Holding back tears, Avigail asks that a message be sent to The Fellowship's donors: "I will never forget the goodness that you have shown my family by bringing us food around the holidays and by buying my son glasses. You are part of my family here in Israel, and I love you always."
