Rabbi and Mrs. Eckstein Receive Special Award from Women's Group

On Thursday evening, February 11, Rabbi Eckstein and his wife, Joelle, were honored at the Women’s International Zionist Organization (WIZO) Annual Gala 2016, “Walk with Heroes” in Hollywood, Florida.

At the gala, Rabbi and Mrs. Eckstein were awarded the Joseph Handleman Light of Philanthropy Award, named for one of the pillars of WIZO who supported the organization for over 25 years, not only financially but through his invaluable counsel.

Inscribed on the award and read during the presentation is this Jewish proverb: “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”

According to WIZO, this award is bestowed upon those who dedicate their lives to fulfill the WIZO mission with commitment and selfless devotion to the Jewish cause.

“Therein lies the deep connection between WIZO and Rabbi Yechiel and Joelle Eckstein,” WIZO officials said in announcing the award. “With grace and distinction, they exemplify those who work tirelessly to obtain a Zionistic, humanistic Israeli society based on equal opportunities, focused on education and welfare for women, children, and youth, in cooperation with the Jewish Diaspora.”
