Why I Stand for Israel

Steven B

I have never been able to trace my family heritage any further than my grandfather, who I understand emigrated from Germany before World War II. I like to think he hated to see the treatment of the Jews and was lucky enough to come to America before it got worse. Maybe he himself was a Jew – I don’t know.

What I do know is that from the time I was little I have read, both in the Bible and in the history books, how the Jewish people have been hated and treated so harshly and unfairly all through time, and how God has rescued them from annihilation many times. Now the Jewish people are in their rightful place -- not a place they have chosen, but a place God chose for them, a place where God can take His chosen people and show the world what He can do with them.

After being scattered to the four corners of the world, tortured, murdered, beaten and humiliated, the Jewish people, with God’s help, have taken a forsaken piece of desert and turned it into a place of their own.  That's what their enemies really hate, and that's why they really want to destroy Israel. Israel didn't depend on oil wells, or gold mines, or wealth stolen from other people. They took a piece of nothing and turned it into something – with God’s help, hard work, a lot of sweat, and innumerable prayers. That kind of honesty and determination deserves my respect and, as a believer in God Almighty, my support.
