Isaiah 58 Helps a Young Boy Grow—and Thrive
Ten-year-old Elmir lives in a tiny two bedroom apartment with his parents, older sister, and grandmother in the former Soviet republic of Azerbaijan. The family is very poor. Elmir’s father is unemployed, and his mother earns only a very modest salary.
Elmir was born with brain damage that caused difficulties with his vision, speech, and motor coordination. His parents always dreamed of giving him the medical rehabilitation they knew he needed, but given their poor financial state, they knew it was impossible.
Elmir’s parents knew there were facilities in Russia where Elmir could get help. But they simply could not afford the trip, let alone the cost of medical treatment and rehabilitation. Then The Fellowship became aware of the situation through a social worker, and paid for the treatments through the Isaiah 58 program, which assists poor Jews in the former Soviet Union. And, when Elmir’s poor eyesight became a problem in school, once again Isaiah 58 stepped in with assistance so Elmir could travel to Moscow for eye surgery.
Today, Elmir is able to see, walk, and speak more clearly as a result of this treatment. His situation improves daily, and his parents are deeply grateful for the assistance that The Fellowship has given them every step of the way.
You can help young people in the former Soviet Union like Elmir through a generous gift to Isaiah 58. Please give today—and provide the support that allows children to grow and thrive!
