Despite her difficult circumstances, nine-year-old Katya, who lives in Ukraine, is a funny and active girl. Her father disappeared shortly after she was born and her mother's salary barely covers their basic living expenses.

Still, Katya is full of life, especially when pursuing her favorite pastimes: dancing and choreography. She loves to twirl in front of the mirror, try on clothes, and organize home dance recitals for her neighbors and friends.

Katya's dancing outfits are mostly made from decorative material and pieces of fabric cut from old linens or items of clothing. As for clothes, she is accustomed to wearing other kids' hand-me-downs, many of which are heavily worn out and do not look very good. Her mother is very polite in calling them "second hand," though she recently overheard her neighbor scornfully call Katya's wardrobe "castoffs."

The biggest problem is shoes. Katya grows into a new shoe size every year or so, but the family has no money to buy her the proper size footwear.

Because of this, the clothing and comfortable shoes The Fellowship's Isaiah 58 program provided Katya were a wonderful surprise for the girl and her mother. Unable to believe her good fortune at first, Katya clutched her gift bags to her chest and didn't even want to try on her new clothes when she picked them up.

"I just know, even beforehand, that everything will fit just fine!" she exclaimed. "I feel like Cinderella in that fairytale when she received a gift from her fairy godmother!"

You can be part of putting a smile on the face of a poor little girl like Katya in the former Soviet Union through a gift to Isaiah 58. Please give today — and may God bless you for your generosity!
