Vitaly — Lighting Up a Child's Face
Looking at his fresh, smiling face, it is hard to believe that young Vitaly, a boy who lives in Ukraine, has experienced more hardship in his ten years than many people experience in a lifetime.
Both of Vitaly's parents are alcoholics who literally abandoned their infant son on the street and disappeared. No one knows where they are or how to get in touch with them. Though, thankfully, Vitaly is being raised by good people — relatives who love him make it their business to look after him — he still feels the absence of his mother and father.
The Fellowship recently provided Vitaly with desperately-needed clothing and shoes through the Isaiah 58 program. Representatives of The Fellowship's partner organization who brought the shoes to Vitaly said that he was transformed by the gift: "You should have seen the child's face when he tried on his beautiful, brand-new sneakers! He said that he could not even have dreamed of receiving such a nice present. He also received a t-shirt, long-sleeved shirt, shorts, pants, hat, and socks — so many new things that were lacking in his wardrobe."
Not accustomed to receiving such gifts or attention, Vitaly couldn't hide his delight. Everyone around him that day was extremely happy for him — and moved by his joy.
You can help put a smile on the face of a desperate Jewish child living in the former Soviet Union with your gift to Isaiah 58 today.
