Tzahi and Sarah: Struggling and Praying
Thousands of destitute families in Israel — families like Tzahi and Sarah's — cannot afford the basic necessities. Every day they face dire circumstances of hunger and harsh poverty. Yet, their courage and faith are inspiring.
Tzahi and Sarah have five children. For years, Tzahi's job as a salesman and Sarah's as a secretary allowed them to provide a modest, but comfortable life for their family. Suddenly, they have been forced to change roles. Rather than donating to charities providing support for others, they are now the ones in need of assistance.
The necessity to spend heavily on defense means a critical shortage of funds to provide for Israel's citizens. Tzahi and Sarah's financial struggles began when, as a result of Israeli government cutbacks, the child support payments they had relied on were drastically reduced.
Soon after, both parents' incomes plunged because of cutbacks at work, creating a desperate situation. Now it is nearly impossible for Tzahi and Sarah to meet their family's daily expenses.
The government cannot afford to provide the needed assistance to poor families like Tzahi and Sarah's. It is critical that Israel allocate as many resources as possible to strengthen its defenses, and little funding is left to help the most vulnerable — impoverished families, the elderly, Holocaust survivors and children in need.
Fortunately for Tzahi, Sarah, and their children, a nearby Fellowship-sponsored soup kitchen provides a safety net. Here, they can receive staple food items and a nutritious meal every day.
Tzahi and Sarah are deeply grateful for this gesture of kindness. "This is a very difficult period for us," Tzahi says. "I thank all of you Christians who have taken it upon yourselves to help us Jews in our time of need. God bless you."
Through your donation today to Guardians of Israel you can provide assistance to Tzahi and Sarah's family and so many others who are experiencing extreme financial hardship. Your gift will be a blessing for those who have nowhere else to turn. Thank you for extending a helping hand to these people in need!
