A Guardians of Israel Success Story

Kinneret: A Mother's Comfort Amidst Tragedy

At 21, Kinneret married Yoni, her best friend and the love of her life. Together they had two beautiful children. "It was a dream," Kinneret remembers. Kinneret and her husband both worked and together were able to make ends meet.

Then, with eyes swelling and legs shaking, Kinneret remembers the day that tragedy suddenly struck. When their youngest son was just two years old, Yoni had a heart attack and died. "One minute I was a happily married woman," she says, "and the next I was a widow and single mother to two children."

Kinneret's job at a day care center earned her just enough money to put a roof over her family's head, but no money was left over. When her oven broke three days before the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah, Kinneret was devastated. That was when a friend told her about the 911 Emergency Fund, part of The Fellowship's Guardians of Israel program.

A social worker told The Fellowship of Kinneret's plight. The next day, The Fellowship arranged to have a new stove and oven delivered to Kinneret's house, along with 100 dollars to buy food for the holiday. "When the stove, oven and money showed up at my door, I nearly fainted," Kinneret remembers. "I was so hopeless and depressed and then an angel came and brought me everything that I needed to have a nice holiday. Without those gifts my children wouldn't have had any food for Rosh Hashanah and I wouldn't have been able to live with myself."

Kinneret is deeply grateful to The Fellowship's Guardians of Israel 911 Emergency Fund for providing her with these gifts. "Food for the holidays brought me the most joy ever," she says. "Without you the poor people in Israel would suffer and we appreciate so much that you think about us."

Unfortunately, there are many more families in Israel who scrape by on just enough money to pay their monthly bills. Any emergency expense throws them into a financial turmoil from which it is nearly impossible to recover. Please help them face these challenges by donating to Guardians of Israel today.
