Water in the Desert
Making ends meet has never been easy for the Peleg family especially since one of their four children, Uri, suffers from a rare disease that requires expensive medication.
When Uri’s father, Nahum, suffered a massive stroke two years ago and was confined to a nursing home, the family was devastated by grief and financial hardship. Rivka, Uri’s mother, watched helplessly as soaring medical bills quickly drained the family’s meager finances.
Then Rivka heard through a social worker that help was available through The Fellowship’s “911 Emergency Fund” that supplements the welfare budgets of over 100 of Israel’s neediest cities. This fund, sponsored by The Fellowship’s Guardians of Israel program, now pays for Uri’s medications every month and provided him with a new schoolbag for the first time in his life. It even provides the family with rides back and forth to the nursing home to visit Nahum.
The social worker who helped the Pelegs said that this assistance "was like taking some water and pouring it on very dry land. It is amazing how much hope this has given them, especially little Uri!"
Their difficulties may not be over, but at least now they know they are not forgotten — they're being given hope through gifts given by faithful Guardians of Israel like you! Please give today.
