Dina is a 45-year-old Israeli single mother to two boys, ages 12 and 6. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer, she fell into a deep depression, and accumulated a huge debt because of medical bills. While she was in and out of the hospital, she was unable to take care of her children.

Her aunt agreed to take care of her youngest son. But her older son, Michael, was left with nowhere to go and no one to take care of him. "Not only was I struggling with cancer", Dina says, "I was horrified to think that my son would be living alone and on the street."

That was when Dina heard about the Migdal Ohr home and school for boys. For the first time in his life, Michael had a first rate education, three hot meals a day, guidance, and care. Dina says that "the peace of mind that Migdal Ohr gave me made it possible for me to recover from my cancer."

Michael continues to live at Migdal Ohr even now that Dina is home, because she cannot afford to buy him food and she is still too weak and tired from her illness to care for him. But now she knows that he is safe and cared for. "Thanks to Guardians, Migdal Ohr is giving Michael a better life then I ever could have," Dina says. "Thank you for giving my child the future that I only dreamed about."

Migdal Ohr literally saves the lives of thousands of children like Michael who are orphaned or have parents that are unable to adequately provide for them.
