While the upheavals in some countries — say, Tunisia — don’t promise to adversely affect Israel’s security, the situation in Egypt, where President Hosni Mubarak was overthrown earlier this year, has sent shockwaves through Israel’s diplomatic and defense establishments.

A Home for Israel’s At-Risk Boys


Many children in Israel live in such dangerous home environments that they have to be removed. The Ministry of Welfare helps place these children in boarding schools, but they don’t have enough funding for all those in need. As a result, many children are forced to stay in harmful situations because they have no place to go. Thankfully, Fellowship-funded Ohr Simcha, a boarding home for 300 boys at risk from ages 6 to 14, accepts children even if the government can’t offer any funding.
