As Jews around the world observe Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), we must face the tragic reality that anti-Semitism is on the rise worldwide. Even in the U.S., we saw a terrible example of this in the recent horrific attack on a synagogue outside of San Diego that killed one person and injured several more – exactly six months after the Pittsburgh massacre at the Tree of Life synagogue that killed 11 people.
At The Fellowship, we have watched the drastic rise in anti-Semitism with both shock and a sense of urgency. While "never again" was once a defiant call to stand against evil, today it is also an urgent call to action. As Christians and Jews united to stand for Israel and her people, an attack on one of us is an attack on us all.
Over the past five years, The Fellowship has provided security for Jewish communities in nearly 40 countries around the world. But, faced with the disturbing rise of anti-Semitic hatred, these communities are pleading for more emergency help with security measures such as armed guards, bulletproof doors, and security cameras. We must do more – and we will do more.
Yael Eckstein, President of The Fellowship, has declared, "Yom HaShoah is different this year. It is no longer enough just to pay our respects to those murdered and those that survived – as important as that is. It is not enough just to pay lip service to 'never again.' It is no longer a time to bask in the victory of good over evil. It is time for action. It is time for change. It is time to choose a different ending to this age-old story. We – Christians and Jews standing firmly together – can make all the difference."
We need you to take action today to help us prevent this anti-Semitic hatred from spreading further around the world. Your lifesaving gift will help provide security for Jewish synagogues and schools around the world that are threatened by acts of violence, anti-Semitism, and terror. Please help today – before it's too late.
