Rocket Fired at Israel from Gaza

As night fell on Israel’s 67th Independence Day, The Times of Israel reports that the celebration was broken by a terrorist rocket launched into Israel from Gaza:

Rocket warning sirens were heard in the western Negev region near the Gaza Strip Thursday night, and the army said shortly afterwards that a rocket had been fired by terrorists in the Strip.

The attack came on the final hours of Israel’s Independence Day celebrations.

The military said the rocket may have exploded inside Israeli territory, but an impact has not yet been confirmed. Channel 2 News said residents reported hearing an explosion in the area…

Israel is wary of Gaza terrorist groups rearming after Operation Protective Edge. The IDF says Hamas has been conducting test launches in recent months in order to increase rocket launching capabilities.
