Photo Friday: Through You We Push Back Our Enemies

A female Haganah soldier fires a Sten gun during Israel's War of Independence in 1948 (Photo: wikicommons/Haganah Museum)

Through you we push back our enemies;
    through your name we trample our foes.
I put no trust in my bow,
    my sword does not bring me victory;
but you give us victory over our enemies,

    you put our adversaries to shame.
In God we make our boast all day long,
    and we will praise your name forever. (Psalm 44:5-8)

March is Women's History Month, so we're sharing this photograph from 1948, of a female member of the Haganah (the precursor to the IDF) practicing with a Sten gun during Israel's War of Independence. Shabbat shalom, friends.
