US Restores All Sanctions Against Iran

Earlier this week, the Trump Administration restored all previously lifted sanctions against Iran, including sanctions against 50 banks, 200 individuals and ships, and an Iranian airline. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. has been relentless in its pressure on the Iranian regime.

  • Israeli leaders responded to the American action this week with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praising President Trump for “this historic decision.”
  • The Jerusalem Post reported that the U.S. is also taking action against Iran in Syria and Iraq – two countries that have high concentrations of Iranian–funded militia.
  • Israel Hayom reports that 480 major terrorist attacks have been thwarted in Israel this year, along with 590 lone-wolf strikes. The Shin Bet security agency in Israel also made 219 Hamas terror cell arrests.
  • Ari Fuld, an American-Israeli man who was fatally wounded after he chased and shot a terrorist in the central West Bank two months ago, was awarded the Medal of Distinction by Israel Police this week.

This week’s Israel in the News Perspective features The Fellowship’s Yonit Rothchild on the blessing of voting.
