President-elect Donald Trump has named David Friedman as the American Ambassador to Israel. Friedman, lawyer and advisor to Trump, is pro-Israel and supports settlements and other changes to the current U.S. policy.

- Twelve people were killed, including an Israeli woman whose husband was seriously injured, after a terrorist linked to ISIS hijacked a truck and drove it into a busy Christmas market in Berlin.
- A group of Jewish pilgrims who were at the gravesite of revered Hasidic Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav were teargassed in the latest anti-Semitic attack in Europe.
- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on the international community to stand together against terror in the wake of the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Turkey. Andrey Karlov was shot and killed in Ankara, the Turkish capital.
- Founder and President of The Fellowship Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein called upon Israeli leaders to “declare all-out war on poverty.” The Fellowship commissioned a study on poverty and found that 81 percent of Israelis living in poverty feel they will always be poor.
