A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip this week landed in the southern Israeli town of Sderot. The attack was one of the few times that rocket fire has been able to penetrate Israel’s Iron Dome defense system. No one was wounded in the attack.

- Diplomats from more than 70 countries, including President Obama, Prince Charles of Wales, and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, attended the funeral of Israeli statesman Shimon Peres earlier this week.
- The Wall Street Journal has reported that the Obama administration had offered to lift U.N. sanctions on Iran early in exchange for the release of U.S. prisoners.
- Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, founder and President of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, was recognized by the Jerusalem Post as one of the 50 most influential Jews in the world.
- New satellite images taken by the U.N. show the destruction the Syrian civil war has done to the rebel-held city of Aleppo. An estimated 275,000 people are trapped in the government siege of that city.
