While we who stand for Israel surely appreciate and honor those who have given their lives in defense of the Holy Land, it is easy to forget those who were closest to the fallen. In this touching story and photo from Israeli journalist Edgar Asher, we see how one young boy remembers the father he lost:

As a precursor to the upcoming Yom Hazikaron Memorial Day for Israel’s fallen soldiers, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, accompanied by his wife Sara, hosted a group of children at the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem who had lost a parent in one of Israel’s many wars.

For one little boy, this was just too much, as he prepared to show the Prime Minister the scrap book all about his late father. A comforting hand and a hug from Binyamin Netanyahu soon overcame the boy’s obvious emotion and some minutes later the boy was happy to show the Prime Minister and his wife Sara his precious scrap book about the father he misses so much.
