Photo Friday: The Festival of Dedication

PM Netanyahu lights Hanukkah menorah (Photo: Kobi Gideon/GPO)

Tomorrow night, as Christians celebrate Christmas Eve, the Jewish people will begin their own celebration of Hanukkah. Also known as the Festival of Lights, Hanukkah is mentioned in the Christian Bible, when John mentions Jesus' observance of the holiday: "Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem" (10:22). To learn more about Hanukkah, visit our resource page.

In this photo, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lights the Hanukkah menorah at the Armored Corps Memorial and Museum outside of the Holy City of Jerusalem.

We wish all of our Christian friends a Merry Christmas, and our Jewish friends a Happy Hanukkah!
