This week marked the 100th anniversary of the WWI Battle of Beersheba, in which allied troops from Australia and New Zealand helped defeat the Ottoman Empire, which at that time controlled the Holy Land. At a ceremony of remembrance, PM Netanyahu quoted King David in a speech remembering the courageous soldiers who spilled blood on Israeli soil, and also witnessed this traditional Maori war dance performed in honor of New Zealand's dead.
