Photo Friday: Our Feet Are Standing in Your Gates

Rabbi Shlomo Goren on Temple Mount after Six-Day War, 1967 (Photo: Eli Landau/GPO)

"I rejoiced with those who said to me,
'Let us go to the house of the LORD.'
Our feet are standing
    in your gates, Jerusalem."
(Psalm 122:1-2)

In 1967, Israel retook Jerusalem's Old City during the Six-Day War. In this historic fifty-year-old photo, IDF Rabbi Shlomo Goren rejoices with the shofar while bringing the Torah to this holiest of Jewish sites. Shabbat shalom, friends.
