Photo Friday: Let Them Praise His Name with Dancing

An orthodox rabbi in Israel dances with the Torah on Simchat Torah, October 23, 1978 (Photo: Moshe Milner/GPO)

"Sing to the LORD a new song,
    his praise in the assembly of his faithful people.
Let Israel rejoice in their Maker;
    let the people of Zion be glad in their King.
Let them praise his name with dancing" (Psalm 149:1-3)

This week, the Jewish people celebrated Simchat Torah, the festive ending of reading God's Word and the beginning of a new year of reading it again. When the Torah scroll is taken from the Ark, the synagogue celebrates with dancing, as seen in this historical photo taken in Israel in 1978. Shabbat shalom, friends.
