Photo Friday: A Very Loud Trumpet Blast

“…there was thunder and lightning, with a thick cloud over the mountain, and a very loud trumpet blast.” (Exodus 19:16)

The above verse alludes to the sounding of the shofar, or ram’s horn, at Mount Sinai. And the above photo shows IDF Rabbi Shlomo Goren blowing the shofar after Israel miraculously reunited Jerusalem’s Old City during the Six-Day War of 1967. This Sunday at sundown, shofars will sound all over Israel and across the globe as the Jewish people begin to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Shanah Today — Happy New Year!
