Palestinians Clash with IDF on Day of Rage

After their Friday prayers, Palestinians took to the streets of the West Bank and Gaza in a “Day of Rage” to protest the United States’ decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Ynet News reports on the violence caused by thousands of Palestinian rioters clashing with the IDF forces stationed in the Holy City in order to keep peace:

Clashes broke out between Palestinians and Israeli security forces Friday afternoon in Jerusalem’s Old City, the West Bank and Gaza as worshipers leaving the al-Aqsa mosque demonstrated against President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on Wednesday.

Around 1,000 IDF Border Police soldiers took up positions throughout the Old City of Jerusalem in anticipation of violent demonstrations staged by the worshipers at the conclusion of Friday prayers in the mosque.

By the mid afternoon, the IDF reported that at least 12 people had been wounded in the unrest and six arrests had been made.

By the early afternoon, skirmishes between the rioters and IDF forces were preceded by the burning of Israeli flags, and eventually broke out in Bethlehem, Ramallah, Hebron and Huwara near Nablus, prompting Israeli soldiers to propel tear gas canisters into the crowds and fire rubber bullets…
