With nearly all the votes now counted from Israel’s general election Tuesday, Benjamin Netanyahu has been reelected to a fifth term as Prime Minister. Netanyahu’s Likud party beat its competitor, the Blue-and-White party led by Benny Gantz, by more than 10,000 votes.

  • Celebrating with his supporters in Tel Aviv, Prime Minister Netanyahu said “It is a night of an incredible victory."
  • U.S. President Trump sent his congratulations to Netanyahu, calling his victory “good for peace.”
  • Israel's first attempt at a lunar landing failed Thursday after the spacecraft crashed into the moon's surface. Prime Minister Netanyahu responded to the news, saying, "Write this down. In three years we will get another spacecraft on the moon, and this one will land in one piece."
  • In a move long pushed for by Israel, the Trump administration this week designated Iran’s Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization.
