Netanyahu Celebrates Independence Day on U.S. Aircraft Carrier

Netanyahu addresses crew on US Carrier for Independence Day Ashernet

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu celebrated America’s Independence Day aboard the U.S. Navy’s newest and largest aircraft carrier, the USS George H. W. Bush. In addressing the naval personnel, Netanyahu said that Israel and the U.S. are unified by a common ideal — “the fight for freedom.”

Also this week in Israel in the News:

  • U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley called out the U.N. Human Rights Council for having a permanent anti-Israel item on the group’s agenda. “Agenda Item 7 is solely for acts condemning Israel,” she said during a recent discussion on C-Span about the group.
  • Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first head of India’s government to visit Israel this week. Both countries expressed their commitment to increased trade and cooperation in fighting terror groups.
  • The Fellowship recently dedicated its newest youth center in Eliat. These centers provide Israel’s underprivileged children with education and other meaningful experiences to prepare them for a brighter future.
  • The nation of Qatar has remained defiant despite many neighboring Arab states cutting diplomatic and transportation ties with them. Its neighbors have accused Qatar of supporting radical Islamist terrorists.
