Israel Strikes Iranian Targets in Syria

Israeli warplanes carried out more airstrikes near the Syrian capital of Damascus last weekend as part of an effort to hit Iranian targets in Syria. In retaliation, Syria fired missiles into Israel that were shot down by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.

  • Following last weekend’s airstrikes, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that Israel will continue her efforts to combat Iranian aggression in Syria.
  • The helmet of an IDF soldier saved his life after a Hamas sniper opened fire during a Palestinian riot against Israeli soldiers at the Israeli-Gaza border.
  • During a visit with a group of new IDF cadets this week, Prime Minister Netanyahu praised the group for their “fighting spirit” and “willingness to go into battle with courage and intelligence.”
  • The Fellowship recently launched its Winter Warmth initiative, helping thousands of elderly, families, and children in Israel and the former Soviet Union with heaters, clothing, shoes, subsidized utility bills, wood and coal.

This week’s Israel in the News Perspective features The Fellowship’s Founder and President Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein on the U.N.’s International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
