On Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces shot down a Syrian jet as it crossed into Israeli territory near the Golan Heights. The IDF has been on alert on its northern border as fighting in Syria between government forces, rebel forces, and ISIS has increased over the past several weeks.
- This week in a dramatic rescue, Israel, along with several other Western allies, helped evacuate members of the “White Helmets” — Syrian Civil Defense volunteers who help rescue civilians caught in dangerous areas in the Syrian conflict. The Assad regime was threatening members of the group.
- Meanwhile, in southern Israel, an uneasy ceasefire appears to be holding between Hamas and Israel after intense fighting along the Gaza border last weekend.
- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in reference to a recent balloon firebomb that almost burned schoolchildren in southern Israel, said, “What does it say about the terrorists that run Gaza that they try and burn preschoolers alive?”
- The Fellowship is sponsoring a petition calling on the U.N. to grant refugee status to Middle Eastern Christians who have fled to Jordan from the terrorist group ISIS. To date, more than 20,000 people have signed the petition. Go here to add your support and sign the petition.
