In another round of violence initiated by terrorists in Gaza, Hamas fired more than 180 rockets and mortars into southern Israel, injuring at least seven Israelis and causing damage to homes and infrastructure. Israel responded with airstrikes, targeting terror sites.

  • In response to this latest barrage of rockets, the mayor of Sderot, near the Gaza border, called for a major military operation in Gaza to return quiet to the city.
  • Fox News reported that a senior U.N. official has suggested that Israel’s U.N. membership should be reviewed or suspended for violating international law. In response, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley said, “Attacking Israel is their favorite political sport.”
  • Israel hailed the U.S.’s recent move to re-impose sanctions against Iran. Israeli officials said that the sanctions will work toward “placing the Iranian tiger in a cage.”
  • The Fellowship, with a grant matched by the Israeli government and other agencies, is working to renovate 40 orphanages throughout Israel.

This week’s Israel in the News Perspective looks at telling Israel’s story to future generations.
