Iranian Drone Violates Israeli Sovereignty

Earlier this week, Iran brazenly violated Israeli sovereignty when they dispatched an Iranian drone from Syrian territory into Israel. Israel responded with airstrikes on Syrian and Iranian military targets in Syria. An Israeli fighter jet was shot down during these strikes —the first time that has occurred in three decades.

Also this week in Israel in the News:

  • U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley, told the Security Council this week that Iran’s drone incursion into Israel was a “wake-up call” to the world over the Islamic Republic’s intentions in Syria.
  • Two Israeli soldiers were attacked by Palestinians after they mistakenly entered a West Bank city earlier this week. The two were rescued by Palestinian security forces.
  • Jewish snowboarder Arielle Gold, competing for the United States at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, took the Bronze medal in the women’s halfpipe competition Tuesday.
  • The Fellowship recently provided a $70,000 gift to help purchase an ambulance for Israel’s Bedouin community, and another $200,000 to build playgrounds for that community.

This week’s Israel in the News Perspective features The Fellowship’s Ami Farkas on Israel’s reaction to the Iranian drone.
