Happy Birthday, David Ben-Gurion!

Today would have been the 131st birthday of David Ben-Gurion, who was born in 1886 and passed away in 1973. The founding father of the modern state of Israel, Ben-Gurion also served as the Jewish state's first Prime Minister. In the above photograph taken in 1953, Ben-Gurion and Golda Meir light the Hanukkah menorah with other Israeli luminaries. We'll remember this important servant and forefather of Israel and the Jewish people with a quote remembered by Ariel Sharon:

It doesn't matter what the world says about Israel; it doesn't matter what they say about us anywhere else. The only thing that matters is that we can exist here on the land of our forefathers.
