So many words — those of mourning, those of memories, those of gratitude, those of love — have poured in since Rabbi Eckstein’s passing. Many of them have been shared by those in power who have witnessed the great work that the Rabbi did for Israel and her people. Here we share statements from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Reuven Rivling, and Knesset member and former Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren.

From PM Netanyahu:

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expresses deep sorrow over the passing of Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein who worked tirelessly to benefit the citizens of Israel and to strengthen the bond between Christian communities and the State of Israel. May his memory be a blessing.

From President Rivlin:

A great man, a great Jew and a great Zionist. Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, a man of charity and vision, left us today. His contribution to the Jewish people and the State of Israel will be felt for generations. We mourn his loss. May his memory be a blessing.

And from Dr. Oren:

I join millions of Jews and Christians in mourning the death of Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein. His contributions to Israel, the Jewish people, and interfaith relations were immense and his love of Zion immeasurable. I was proud to call him colleague and friend. May his memory be blessed.
