4 IDF Cadets Killed in Jerusalem Terror Truck Attack

Four soldiers-in-training for the Israel Defense Forces were killed earlier this week when a truck driven by a Palestinian drove into them while they were sightseeing in Jerusalem. The attacker was shot and killed by soldiers and a tour guide with the group. It was the first major terror attack in Israel of 2017.

Also this week in Israel in the News:

  • Earlier this week, 16 Jewish community centers in the U.S. and United Kingdom received simultaneous bomb threats. The centers were evacuated, but no explosive devices were found. The FBI is investigating.
  • Representatives of more than 70 nations will meet in Paris to discuss a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict — but Israeli and Palestinian leaders have both declined to attend. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was open to “direct talks without preconditions” with the Palestinians.
  • With winter’s coldest months here, The Fellowship has launched its Operation Winter Warmth campaign, providing needy Jews in Israel and the former Soviet Union with lifesaving grants to pay for heating bills, blankets, and portable space heaters.
