United for Freedom, Liberty, and Peace

July 30, 2015

Dear Friend of Israel,

Israel, and friends of Israel everywhere, are deeply concerned about the deal six world powers struck with Iran last week, a deal aimed at preventing the Islamic Republic from obtaining nuclear weapons. Mid-September is the tentative time frame for the U.S. Congress to decide whether to approve the deal or vote it down.

The facts are clear. Despite its claims to want peace, Iran continues to wage war in the Middle East, working through terrorist proxies such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and others. The bloody civil war in Syria has killed hundreds of thousands, and made millions more refugees. Hamas continues to threaten Israel with a reprise of the traumatic war of summer 2014. Hezbollah – even more heavily armed and organized than Hamas – continues to threaten Israel from the north. All of these conflicts and the terrorist groups involved in them are aided and abetted by Iran, and in some cases Iran has sent its own troops to fight alongside them.

The rest of the world is not safe from the reaches of Iran either. The 1983 bombing of a barracks in Lebanon that killed hundreds of U.S. and French soldiers, the 1994 bombing of a Jewish center in Buenos Aires that killed 85 and injured hundreds more, the 1996 bombing of the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia that killed 19 U.S. servicemen, the 2012 bombing of a bus of Jewish tourists in Bulgaria – the trail for these and many other atrocities committed around the world leads back to Iran.

And, as much as Iran claims to want to use nuclear technology only for peaceful purposes, it also continues to stir unrest by engaging in violent, hostile rhetoric against the West. Just days after the Iran deal was finalized, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, posted a graphic on his Twitter account titled “The Aggressive and Criminal U.S.” that appears to show a picture of President Obama with a gun held to his head. Another post blamed Western civilization for starting wars that created a “dangerous and deadly Zionist outgrowth … in the heart of the world of Islam.” Are these the words of a man who wants peace – with Israel, the U.S., or the West in general?

Today, I ask you again to take action. Contact your congressmen and tell them to say “no” to the Iran deal. Our action alert makes it easy for you to do so. Now, more than ever, we need to show that the American people stand united – for Israel, our greatest ally, for freedom, liberty, and peace, and against terror and tyranny.

With prayers for shalom, peace,
